A super delicious and well priced red from Côte-Rôtie in the Northern Rhone Valley.
Decadent on the nose and the palate. Aromas of earthy red berries and cherries, blueberries, dark chocolate, oak spices, and pepper. Build in the mouth, with flavours of ripe blackberries, more of those delicious spices, and a refreshing salinity. Medium bodied, dry, grippy tannins, balancing acidity, making for a delightfully fleshy, textured sip.
It's a Cote du Rhone, but far darker and spicier than its cousins from the Southern Rhone. Great with steak or a meaty pasta / pizza.

‘La Part des Vivants’: means the wine left for us to drink after the angel’s share evaporate. This rare Northern Rhone Cotes du Rhone is made mostly of Syrah, coming from Ampuis area not far from the Cote-Rotie vineyards. The Grenache comes from declassified Cru Cairanne. Vineyards are ploughed by a horse. This cuvee is mostly de-stemmed, with traditional vinification and no sulphur during the vinification and ageing. Aged in very old barrels of 228 litres. Low sulphur at bottling.
