Pianogrillo - Grecanico 2021

A bright and crisp white from Sicily, Italy. Made by a Baron. 

Wild primary fermentation in stainless steel with controlled low temperatures to maintain delicacy and fruit purity, then partial malolactic fermentation, and 6 month maturation, also in stainless steel. Aromatics of lychee, pineapple and warm spices with a chalky minerality and ripe citrus acidity on the palate. Yum.

THE ESTATE

Baron di Pianogrillo, Lorenzo Piccione, is not only a master of organically farmed wine and olive oil, but is also an artist and concert pianist. The land that has belonged to Pianogrillo Barons for centuries is also home to a local herd of an endangered breed of protected Sicilian swine, who, along with some horses, are free to graze amongst the 14 hectares of vines that produce Frappato, Nero d’Avola, Grillo and Grecanico. Case in point - Lorenzo and his teams' dedication to sustainability of the ancient land they farm is unwavering, and as such his vineyards and winery are certified organic. 

Wild ferments, zero adjustments, corrections or additions minus small doses of SO2 at bottling; displaying purity of fruit, vigour, texture, salinity and minerality.
