Seriously good Sauvignon from the Yonne area of France, near Chablis. Mineral and rock dust palate with apples, pears, savoury spice and nuts. Super rare!
Alice and Olivier made the decision in 2022 to no longer make their Saint Bris wine (a cuvée they sometimes called Sans Bruit, when they made it a Vin de France).
Instead, they have made a new cuvée called Nuova Descriptio (or “new description”). Olivier, who designed and drew the label, saw the words on a Vermeer painting and it seems very appropriate as it’s a new way of working with the grapes from an existing vineyard.
Producer: Alice et Olivier de Moor
Region: Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Gris
Grapes: Saint-Bris - Yonne, Burgundy, France
NERD NOTES
A blend of Sauvignon Blanc and a little Sauvignon Gris from a single vineyard in Saint-Bris, Yonne - lying just a few kilometres southwest of the Chablis AOC.
The wine was aged part in Amphora and part macerated on skins in tank.
