WINE TASTING: THE DANUBE!
When: Friday 7th of March
What: Wines from along the Danube River in Austria and Hungary
Where: Wine Shop Upstairs / 234 Marrickville Rd
Time: 6:30 pm to 8:30pm
Come along as we waltz our way down the Danube River. Figuratively but also maybe literally. We will be sipping and tasting wines that are found along the route, meandering through Austria and Hungary like some sort of large body of fast moving liquid.
We will touch on the Danube's rich winemaking history, its native grape varieties, and why this region is quietly making waves on the global wine scene.
We will be discussing how Austria went from "those-nutters-that-put-anti-freeze-in-their-wine" to one of the most consistently, reliably excellent producers of wine.
We will also discuss how Hungary produces what has widely been considered "liquid gold" and is actually secretly kind of good at this whole wine malarkey.
So join us we pay tribute to Strauss, Mozart, Liszt and all the rest. Except without all the violins, pianos and stuff.
EVENT DETAILS
Our wine tastings finish at 8:30 pm. They sometimes go a little over but we try to have everything officially wrapped up by then and let people hang back and chat if they like.
In terms of food, we will have some nibbles but not full meals. The snacks vary for each event. It is quite common for people to head next door to the wine bar Where's Nick for dinner after a tasting. It is super good. Book Here.
Tickets are non-refundable but can be exchanged for future events credit up to 7 days before the event.
This cannot be done closer to the event as we order wines based on ticket sales. If you cannot make the event, you are welcome to give your tickets to someone else, like a gift!
