🍷 Rich Reds

Tasting Notes

An archetypal Chianti Classico - rich, rustic, and full of depth.

Intensely flavoured, with ripe black cherry, plum, and dark fruit notes, blood orange, dried citrus, and cranberry highlights, liquorice, spice, dried herbs tar, and earth on the finish.

Smooth on the palate, rustic in character, richly weighted and dry, juicy in texture with chewy well-integrated tannins, and a long concentrated finish.

Recommend to decant before serving with food.

Nerd Notes

Sangiovese from Chianti Classico, Tuscany, Italy.

Grapes are sources from 3 different estate vineyards within the Chianti Classico region - Casavecchia, Sicelle, and Sicellino.

The vines grew in clay-limestone soils with a high proportion of stone, with the vineyards sitting at 400 to 450m above sea level.

Vinification takes place through spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in steel and concrete vats, with a minimum of 20 days skin maceration with repeated pump-overs and punch-downs.

The wine is matured for one year in small to medium sized oak barrels, during which malolactic fermentation takes place.
The wine is blended in concrete vats before being bottles and aged for a minimum of 3 months before release.

Bottled with minimal added sulphur.
