A lightly effervescent sparkling rosé from one of the most well regarded producer in Emilia Romagna.
Producer: Ca' de Noci
Region: Emilia-Romagna, Italy
Grapes: Sgavetta and other rare indigenous varieties
Rosé in character on the nose and flavour - bright strawberry and small red berries, grapefruit, elderflower, forest leaves, with a touch of mineral earth and a delicate creamy note.
Soft and gentle on the plate, light bodied, delicate yet lively fizz, bright mineral acid, a subtle tannin line. Complex and lovely.
NERD NOTES
Estate grown vineyards in Broletto, planted in 2003, located 150 and 230 metres in altitude with a westly aspect, on silt with chalk and sandstone soils.
Organic vineyard cultivation:
- Disease risk is managed through a combination of copper, sulphur, and plant-based phystostimulants (used to increase soil quality through encouraging microbial activity).
- The vineyard soils are covered with grasses, with mowing as the only source of fertilisation.
Grapes are harvested by hand in small boxes up to 15kg, allowing for the careful selection of grapes while maintaining whole bunches.
Once harvested, the grapes are left to settle overnight in the cellar (in Quattro Castella, Reggio Emilia), before being de-stemmed and pressed (with a small manual press). The grape must is cooled during the pressing and then added to the base wine before bottling, with the refermentation occurring over 3 months in the bottle.
Bottled with no added sulphur.
