A rich and fruity red from southern Sardinia.
Made by Cantine di Dolianova, this is a great example of Cannonau: Sardinia's Grenache.

Intensely perfumed on the nose, with red and dark fruits, subtle herbs, and a touch of dried earth.
Ripe fruit flavours of red and dark cherries, red berries, and currants, accompanied by dried Mediterranean herbs, dried earth, and a slight saline quality.

Richly textured on the palate, with grippy fruit tannin, kept approachable by fresh mineral acid, long and warming on the finish.

Nerd Notes

A blend of 90% Cannonau (Grenache in Sardinian) and 10% native red grape varieties.
The grapes are grown in the commune of Dolianovia (Cagliari), in Sardinia. The vines grow in Miocene clayey limestone soils, sloped terrain, with a sub-arid climate.

Grapes are harvested, destemmed, and crushed, before being fermented for 8 to 10 days. The wine is then drawn off and transferred to vitrified cement tanks, where they undergo malolactic fermentation and aged for a few months.
