Whenever we tell people we are doing a Chinese wine tasting the response is always "A Chinese wine tasting?". Yes. From China.

Join us as we taste a selection of premium wines from the China's new wine frontier.

China has long been a minnow in wine terms, today producing around as much as Austria.

Historically the reputation of Chinese wine has also been, well, bad. Mass production has been the focus with no real incentive to make anything particularly good.

That seems to be changing somewhat. In recent years we have seen new plantings and a move towards quality wine from some producers. Also cash. Lots of cash. Locals, government and internationals have been investing significant sums into to the country, resulting in a massive investment in new vineyards and wineries.

Many of these new ventures and vines are in newer areas away from the main plantings on the humid coast. Provinces such as Yunnan, Xinjiang and Ningxia are seeing a massive expansion. With their dry climates and extreme altitude (1000-3000m asl) seen as the best best for quality in China.

While it may remain a small producer in quantity, the aim seems to be a shift towards quality.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

Our wine tastings finish at 8:30 pm. They sometimes go a little over but we try to have everything officially wrapped up by then and let people hang back and chat if they like.

In terms of food, we will have some nibbles but not full meals. The snacks vary for each event. It is quite common for people to head next door to the wine bar Where's Nick for dinner after a tasting. It is super good. Book Here.

TICKETS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.

Tickets can be exchanged for future events credit up to 7 days before the event.

This cannot be done closer to the event as we order wines based on ticket sales. If you cannot make the event, you are welcome to give your tickets to someone else, like a gift!
