A classic example of what can be found in this little corner of Saint Emilion, from the Pueyo family who have owned Belregard Figeac since 1853. They know their parcels extraordinarily well.
Predominantly Merlot with a touch of Cabernet Franc for spice and structure. Notes of smoked leather and dried earth over broody plums, lifted by bright red and black cherries.
Fruit forward on the initial sip, with flavours of ripe blackberry, bright plum and blackcurrant, spiced cherry, alongside herbal leaf and fruit spice, which gives way to smoked leather, cedar, and notes of dried earth and mushrooms. Rich and inviting on the palate, with well-integrated earthy tannin and lively acidity that keeps it all balanced.
