Wonderful aged botrytis-effected sweet wine from the Loire Valley.
Producer: Clos de l'Élu - now known as 'Terre de l'Élu'
Region: Coteaux du Layon, Anjou, Loire Valley, France
Grapes: Chenin Blanc
Rich and complex with notes of honey, stone fruits and ripe apricot alongside cinnamon and spices.
Lush and concentrated, richly weighted, sweet but balanced with fine minerally acidity.
Wonderful.
Nerd Notes:
Estate grown, organic and biodynamic viticulture, minimal added sulphur.
Coteaux du Layon is the largest and one of the most important sweet wine regions in the Loire Valley, producing only sweet wines from Chenin Blanc.
Chaume sits on the northern edge of Layon alongside the Layon river. The local climate in Chaume is particularly good for Botrytis to flourish.
