Tasting Notes

A charming and powerful Alsatian Pinot Noir.

Darkly fruited and spiced on the nose, builds in flavour with black cherry and black berry fruit, elegantly oaked and smokey tones.

Richly balanced on the palate, pure expression and full of depth, fine acid line and structured with elegant tannin, and a charmingly long finish

Nerd Notes

Pinot Noir grown on the sandstone soils from the lieu-dit Bux and Schwarzberg (located next to the Grand Cru Spiegel in Bergoltz), with some coming from the southern part of lieu-dit Bollenberg on Oolitique limstone.

Organic and biodynamic viticulture, soils are worked by plough to encourage deep root growth, with an average vine age of 25 years old.

Hand-picked grapes, whole bunch pressed with a pneumatic press, fermented with natural yeast in stainless steel tanks, macerated on skins for 2 weeks with pumping over. Aged on lees for 10 months, 40% in Stockinger barrels (500L and 600L) and 60% in tanks.
