A delicious red wine from Fiuli. Medium bodied with dark blackberry fruit alongside dark cherry, violets and earth. Complex, interesting and beautifully balanced.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER

Le Due Terre was founded in 1984 by Silvana Forte and Flavio Basilicata. The name comes from the two main soil types of the region (the two lands): marly and clay. The estate is pretty small but the quality is high.

Prepotto sits right on the border with Slovenia and is considered a cooler climate. While Orientali is largely known for its whites, Prepotto has a pretty great reputation for its early ripening red wines, particularly Schioppettino.

The estate is run organically alongside a program to conserve the forest bordering the estate. The wines are made minimally and see about 21 months in old French oak before racking.
