The full name of this wine is apparently IGP - Vin de Pays de Franche-Comte Blanc 2020. Terrible if true. The vineyard sits just outside Arbois, so can not be officially called Jura.
This mostly Chardonnay saw a 10 month elevage in old barrels. Very Jura. Light yet intense at the same time with minerally acid and bold flavours. Notes of orchard fruits, lime and smoked herbs. Better with a decant.
While mostly Chardonnay this is actually a traditional field blend, which you rarely see in France anymore. The exact varieties are unknown having never been classified. A best guess would be the likes of Savagnin, Savagnin Rose, Sauvignonasse and who knows what else.
Etienne Label Peel Rating: 2/10 (mostly intact unfortunately)

THE ESTATE
Les Cavarodes is the estate of Etienne Thiebaud, who first started making wine in 2007. The winery is based in the village of Cramans in the the Northern Jura.
The holdings are small, however the cuvees are plentiful with many different wines produced. This does mean that the wine is hard to get hold of with only a few bottles making their way to us.
The vineyards are all farmed organically and wines handled naturally.
