An extraordinary Grappa made from Nebbiolo grapes grown in the Barbaresco region.
Producer: Levi Serafino - Distilleria Romano Levi
Region: Barbaresco, Piemonte, Italy
Grapes: Nebbiolo
ABV: 42%
Size: 700mL
Lightly amber in colour. Perfumed on the nose with herbs and lightly wooden notes, opening up to vanilla toward the end.
Dry and well balanced on the palate, with long and persistent flavours of liquorice and vanilla spiced notes.
NERD NOTES
Made from Nebbiolo grape pomace which is fermented and then distilled using the last direct-fire copper alembic still that remains in operation, all according to an old recipe from Serafino Levi.
After the pomace has been used, it is converted into still's fuel used the following the next season by being sun dried and formed into bricks.
The grappa is aged for 3 years in 700 litre Piemontese acacia wood casks.
