Pigar - Bobales Perdidos 2018

A delicious full bodied red. Black fruits with a touch of herbs on the nose. Dried black currant and cherry on the palate to start, opening up with subtle notes of red fruits and florals with a hint of oak.

BODEGAS PIGAR

Pigar is the estate of Juan Piqueras and Susana Lopez Acre. Their small winery is located within the walls of the family home, with the barrel room in the basement of the same house.

With its ultra-small production, Juan and Susana make true garage wines. Their vineyards consist of distinct plots of old bush vines, farmed organically, over a variety of different soils and micro-climates.

Producing wines from Chardonnay, Syrah, Bobal (D.O. Utiel-Requena’s historically maligned but now championed workhorse) and heritage varieties Tardana and Royal. Wines are low added sulphur, minimal intervention with some employing skin contact, Bodegas Pigar is set to become a cult icon (if not already) of Utiel-Requena.
