A lighter, more frisky version of Savagnin brimming with fresh fruit-juice flavours, and some whole bunch liveliness.
Matured in a 2450L oak barrel from the 1960s - the careful use of oxygen and skin contact lending salty, saline, nutty notes to the underlying tropical fruit. It's savoury, textural and wickedly delicious to drink.
Nerd Notes
Savagnin from McLaren Vale, South Australia.
Grapes were destemmed and fermented on skins for 4 days.
The wine was then pressed into 2500L Stockinger Foudre (large format oak vats), where it was aged for 6 months.
Bottled unfined, unfiltered, with minimal added sulphur.
