A gorgeously textured and aromatic French White from slopes of Savoie.
Producer: Domaine Adrien Berlioz
Region: Chignin Bergeron, Savoie, France
Grapes: Bergeron (aka Roussanne)
The stone fruit notes continue from the nose to the palate, with ripe apricot and yellow peaches. A wine with a bit of weight, amplified by a gorgeous and fleshy texture, and phenolics. The scales are balanced with a racy, acidic finish and persistent length. Delicious.
NERD NOTES
Roussanne (known locally as Bergeron) grapes from 30 year old vines grown on the "Grand Buisson" lieu dit, in the town of Arbin. The vineyard is situated on a particularly steep (40% incline) South-East facing slope of clay and limestone soils.
The vineyard is cultivated with organic and biodynamic viticulture practices.
Grapes are hand harvested before being directly pressed and vinified with gravity. The wine is made using natural fermentation and hands off winemaking techniques.
Barrel aged, 50% in acacia barrels and 50% in oak barrels.
Minimal added sulphur before bottling.
