Alles Klar 'Dudelsack' Orange Wine 2024 | Riverland, South Australia

Whilst Carwyn Cellars may forever be known as a temple of beer, wine is our first (and perhaps true) love. Owner Ben Carwyn grew up amongst the vineyards of his family winery in the Swan Valley, WA and long-time GM Ben Duval grew up running around Penfolds in the Barossa Valley, SA. With wine running through their veins, it was only a matter of time before they hatched their next wine project.

A wine named Dudelsack—German for bagpipes—is not here to play quietly. This is orange wine with verve, texture, and a touch of chaos. Sourced from Victorian fruit and treated with just the right amount of irreverence, it’s a skin-contact white that throws out the tasting note manual and starts improvising.

Expect dried citrus peel, jasmine tea, salt-crusted apricot, and a whiff of something herbal and strange—maybe like walking through a spice shop after rain. Tannic enough to chew, bright enough to chill, and weird enough to talk about at parties. Minimal sulphur, all attitude.
