A Nebbiolo, Croatina, and Vespolina blend made by seventh generation winemakers working with a volcanic rich terroir.
Producer: Az. Agr. Antoniotti Odilio di Antoniotti Mattia
Region: Casa del Bosco, Sostegno, Biella - Bramaterra, Piemonte, Italy
Grapes: Nebbiolo, Croatina, and Vespolina
Light, Pinot-esque in colour, with complex aromatics.
Juicy and rich fruit notes of red and black cherries and currants, surrounded by layers of cherry liqueur, abundant alpine herbs and leafy undergrowth, mineral rich earth, and olive tapenade on the finish.
Structured and complex, yet gentle on the palate, with racy volcanic acidity and grippy rustic tannin, resulting in a smooth and enveloping texture.
Develops nicely in the glass, revealing hidden depths.
Nerd Notes:
Seventh generation winemakers working with a terroir rich in 'porphyry', a volcanic stone that gives their wines a particular minerality.
Grapes are estate grown with organic viticulture.
Vinification takes place in underground concrete vats, followed by 8 months in steel and 4 months in wooden barrels. Great wine showing typical character for the region.
Minimal sulphur added at bottling.
