A super rare and limited bottling of reserve solera Manzanilla from the newly restored Bodegas Alonso (formally Pedro Romero).
Once this release is gone, it's gone.
Producer: Bodegas Alonso
Region: Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Jerez, Andulicia, Spain
Grapes: Palomino
Dry and supremely complex.
Rich and flavoursome with saline, yeast, chamomile and citrus notes.
Fresh and bright yet also aged, complex and richly textured. Great.
NERD NOTES
A barrel selection with a preference for thick flors, giving a wine that still has the freshness of a young Manzanilla event at an average age of 9-10 years. Hand gravity bottled without filtration (en Rama).
THE ESTATE
A story of old Bodegas and young investment, in 2016 the two Asencio brothers took it upon themselves to revive the old bankrupt Bodega Pedro Romero originally founded in 1860. The Bodega was still full of wine slowly ageing! - Doug
