A wild and soulful white from one of the Loire’s most uncompromising producers. ‘Originel’ is a co-fermented blend of Menu Pineau and Romorantin, two nearly-forgotten Loire grapes that Julien Courtois and Heidi Kuka are quietly reviving in their biodynamic vineyard in Sologne.
Producer: Clos de la Bruyère - Julien Courtois and Heidi Kuka
Region: Sologne, Loire Valley, France
Grapes: Menu Pineau and Romorantin
The result is textured and mineral, with notes of preserved lemon, hay, white flowers, orchard fruit, and a salty, nutty edge. The acidity is clean and persistent, with a phenolic grip that gives structure and length. As it opens, the oxidative tones and mineral tension pull against each other, making for a complex, evolving glass
