A rare and elegant Viognier from one of the Northern Rhône’s most storied appellations.
The Condrieu AOC is the ancestral home of Viognier—once nearly extinct, now treasured for its perfume and power. Grown on the steep granite terraces above the Rhône River, these vines demand both commitment and reverence. ‘La Vieille Maison’ is named for the old family house that overlooks the vineyard, its weathered stones a witness to generations of winemaking.
This 2018 release from Famille Garon is quietly complex. It opens with a whisper of smoke and spice before unfolding into tropical layers—fresh pineapple, mango skin, a flicker of caramel and vanilla. The palate is textured but poised, with a fleshy midsection and a taut saline finish that brings lift and structure. It's unmistakably Viognier, but dialed-in—less baroque, more architectural.
Drink now or cellar for a few years to see the stone fruit deepen and the minerality sharpen.
