A killer Côte-Rôtie-adjacent red from the Garon family in Ampuis. This one punches well above its Côtes du Rhône label, with Syrah at the wheel and some Grenache and Mourvèdre riding shotgun. It’s darker, spicier, and more structured than its Southern cousins.
Decadent nose—think earthy cherries, dark chocolate, blackberries, cracked pepper and a whiff of oak spice. Medium bodied on the palate, with grippy tannins, blackberry fruit, and an edge of savoury salinity. This is Rhône with muscle and nuance—perfect with steak, meaty pasta, or any red-meat pizza.

NERD NOTES
‘La Part des Vivants’: means the wine left for us to drink after the angel’s share evaporate. This rare Northern Rhone Cotes du Rhone is made mostly of Syrah, coming from Ampuis area not far from the Cote-Rotie vineyards. The Grenache comes from declassified Cru Cairanne. Vineyards are ploughed by a horse. This cuvee is mostly de-stemmed, with traditional vinification and no sulphur during the vinification and ageing. Aged in very old barrels of 228 litres. Low sulphur at bottling.
