Giovanni produces some of the best Grenache you can find from Sardinia. He farms a tiny two hectares inherited from his wife's family, with 2004 being his first released vintage. The vineyards are old and organic, sitting at 650 meters in the mountainous interior of the island. The cooler nights helping to preserve the acidity in this undeniably rich wines.
Estate grown vineyards near the town of Mamoiada, vines grown at high altitude on sandy and decomposed granite soils, and are cultivated with organic viticulture practices.
Fermentation in open-top bins for 20-30 days. Mostly de-stemmed. Daily punchdowns. One year elevage in 1500 to 2000L old Slavonion oak botti. Barrosu is a term for someone who is arrogant/brash in the local dialect.
