WINE TASTING: ITALIAN ALPS

When: Friday, May 20th, 2026 

What: Wines from the Alpine Mountains of Italy

Where: Goblin Wine Shop, 234 Marrickville Rd, Marrickville NSW 2204

Time: 6:30pm – 8:00pm

Join us as we taste through a selection of wines from the Alpine north of Italy, with a focus on Valle d'Aosta and Alto Adige.

These regions can be very high in altitude, with elevations up to roughly 1200 m. However, Alpine is not all about altitude. It's about mountains.

The vineyards we are looking at sit within a true mountain chain, often in narrow, glacially carved valleys. These valleys are surrounded by even larger mountains, with 2000-4000 m peaks rising above them. Winters are cold, winds are strong and Tatzelwurm attacks are a constant threat. 

These regions are culturally Alpine as well. Historic trade routes ran through these valleys, and borders have shifted repeatedly over the centuries. Today these regions are as much French or Austrian as they are Italian, both in culture and viticulture.

So come along as we taste through of selection of unique and delicious wines from Alpine Italy!

Our tastings finish at approximately 8:00pm. Occasionally they run slightly over, but we aim to wrap up on time and leave space for anyone who wants to stay and chat.

We provide light snacks, not full meals. Many guests head next door to the wine bar Where’s Nick for dinner after the tasting. Book here.

TICKETS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.

Tickets may be exchanged for future event credit up to 7 days before the event.

This is not possible closer to the event, as wines are ordered based on ticket sales. If you can no longer attend, you are welcome to give your ticket to someone else.
