Loic Mahe - Les Fougeraies Savennieres 2016

This is the friendlier of the vineyard sites from Loic, that is to say still unapproachable but the wine at least feels slightly sorry for you.

The vineyard here is still mostly just schist with a little volcanic rock and a kiss of topsoil to keep things interesting.

Amazingly mineral wine. Ripe orchard fruits over a core of fine acidity, spice and what can only be described as rock juice. An excellent wine. Drinkable now with a decant and will improve for another decade or so.
