Pepe Mendoza Monastrell-Giró 2022 | Alicante, Spain

An ultra-fresh Mediterranean red from the Spanish coast.

Gently spiced cherry fruit, red dates, fresh herbal notes of rosemary, pine, thyme, and bushland scrub, bright salinity, and a lifted balsamic note.

Delicate and gentle on the palate, light to medium bodied, balanced between soft tannin, and a refreshing acid line.

NERD NOTES

Monastrell (70%), Giró (20%), and Garnacha Tintorera (10%).

The Monastrell and Garnacha Tintorera are from 50 year old dry grown bush vines in Alto Vinalopó, and the Giró is from Abargues on the coast, all seeing organic viticulture.

Vinified with 20% whole bunches, fermented with natural yeasts in a 1,000 litre stainless steel tank at 21 degrees. Aged with 80% in stainless steel tanks and 20% in 500L French oak.
