WINE TASTING: LAZIO & GREECE!
When: Friday 21st of March
What: Vini Vidi Vici!? Wines from Lazio & Greece for some reason
Where: Wine Shop Upstairs / 234 Marrickville Rd
Time: 6:30 pm to 8:30pm
Join us as we taste through a selection of wines from Lazio and Greece!
Lazio is an often overlooked region, historically associated with boring, boring white wine. Despite this Lazio is capable of producing some seriously good and interesting wine. From the lighter reds made from the local Cesanese grape to the wines found in the unique volcanic soils of Lake Bolsena.
Greece meanwhile has well and truly moved on from its association with retsina and cheap flagon wines. The country has a range of unique varieties and regions, from the Xinomavro of Naoussa to Agiorgitiko, Assyrtiko and more.
OK SO WHAT IS GOING ON HERE...
If the soul is dyed the colour of its thoughts, then Ella's soul is thirsty for Greece. After their usual weekend documentary marathon, followed by an in-depth dive into ancient Greek philosophy, Ella decided they wanted to to taste through a selection of wines from Greece.
Dom had a dream, and that dream was Rome. After watching Gladiator 2 and a bunch of Tik Tok's on legionaries or whatever, he decided he wanted to taste through a selection of wines from Lazio, the region surrounding the ancient city of Roma.
Both were adamant that the next tasting would be theirs! So with literally no other option available to them, conflict ensued. Whose wines will come out on top! Will it be thumbs up or thumbs down! Whose wine will be sublime, and whose will be just fine!!!
Basically we just thought it would be a fun idea and the wines kind of balance each other out. JOIN US.
EVENT DETAILS
Our wine tastings finish at 8:30 pm. They sometimes go a little over but we try to have everything officially wrapped up by then and let people hang back and chat if they like.
In terms of food, we will have some nibbles but not full meals. The snacks vary for each event. It is quite common for people to head next door to the wine bar Where's Nick for dinner after a tasting. It is super good. Book Here.
Tickets are non-refundable but can be exchanged for future events credit up to 7 days before the event.
This cannot be done closer to the event as we order wines based on ticket sales. If you cannot make the event, you are welcome to give your tickets to someone else, like a gift!
