Producer: Trutta Wine
Region: Faraday - Bendigo, Victoria
Grapes Pinot Noir
"From Faraday, about five mins down the road from our winery in Harcourt. Sandy granitic soils, grown at high elevation, around 475m, on the cool south side of Mt Alexander.
"A few locals have nicknamed the vineyard site Leanganook - this is the indigenous name for Mt Alexander.
"This is probably the coolest site in the Bendigo GI, facing south towards Mt Macedon. This site cops a lot of the cooler south westerly weather patterns, and is a proper cool climate site, making it ideal for Pinot Noir. We are very excited to continue working with the Pinot grown on this granite.
"This one of our last picks of the year, with plenty of hangtime, and time to develop flavour.
"One third destemmed and cold-soaked 7 days, fermented on skins 20 days. Two thirds carbonic maceration for 14 days, then destemmed, and fermented for 15 days, without stems. 90% raised in old oak, 10% in stainless. Racked together for one month before botttling.
