High density and unirrigated vines, with red sandy clay soils on limestone in La Rioja Oriental. The vines are low goblet pruned, used to conserve energy and water in the arid environment.
A blend of Grenache (50%), Tinta Velasco (30%, planted in 1954), and Pasera (20%, planted in 1950).
Vinification begins with the grapes harvested as whole bunches and then crushed by foot in small batches. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with wild yeast, without temperature control. Aged for 12 months in foudre and passes in concrete.
Bottled with minimal added sulphur.
