What Makes a Good Wine Christmas Gift?

Deciding on what wine Xmas gift to buy someone is one of the most daunting and serious decisions one can expect to make in their lifetime. Right there between "Should We Buy This House" and "Am I Really Letting My Partner Call Our Child Wolfgang". 

Here a few pointers from some wine obsessed Goblins:

 

🐕 How into wine are they? Like a lot? In a weirdly obsessed way? Then you probably can't go wrong getting them something from a more obscure grape or country, like from Georgia.

🐕 If they are just "wine drinkers" and have not chosen to dedicate their lives to The Way of The Grape, then I would choose one of the cooler, more suave grape varieties. Grapes with pedigree and a nice apartment. Perhaps Nebbiolo or Pinot Noir.

🐕 It can help to look for something that is not always available. Something that might be sold out soon and that they may not be able to get themselves (or so you can lie about the price). Wineries like The Wine Farm, Ochota Barrels or something from our Rare Collection. 

🐕 Price does matter. Much of what you pay for alcohol is taxation, so a few dollars more does go along way. I would start at around $30 and by the time you hit $50 you can get something really fantastic.  

🐕 Many wine drinkers also love things like Vermouth, Amaro and weird Spirits (a massive generalization I will now present as fact). These can be an easy gift as they are not found in most places and do not need to be drunk in one sitting.

🐕 Champagne from smaller grower estates. Not so much the big brands. Its delicious and makes you look super fancy.
